Amongst the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong’s ultra modern skyscrapers, traffic filled streets and over seven million citizens, there is a gem of a neighborhood. This city’s most savvy citizens know that Star Street is the place to go for trendsetting boutiques, delightful restaurants and hip yet understated nightlife. This area of low-rises has a history beginning with a Hong Kong’s first power station in 1889. The streets surrounding this area were named the sun, the moon, and the stars - the natural elements that generate electricity. Thus Sun Street, Moon Street and Star Street were born, and some of the oldest streets in the neighborhood.

When you visit Star Street you’ll notice the narrow streets, the low-rise buildings, and charming storefronts with an eclectic edge. It is a modern combination of old and new that gives this neighborhood character. Thus is the reason for setting Ligne 8’s location for our first photoshoot. It is one of our design team’s favorite neighborhoods because of it’s diversity and charm.

Ligne 8’s top spots on Star Street

is among a myriad of boutiques, cafes and restaurants in this unique shopping district. One of our favorites is Cocktail JoJo, a lifestyle shop featuring home decor and accessories, jewelry, gifts, all with a cat theme. The proprietor and owner is Luke, one of the founding designers of the Hong Kong based fashion brand Chapel. On a recent visit to Cocktail JoJo we spotted nautical themed striped aprons, cat themed gifts and stuffed pillows, mini address books, hundred dollar bill fabric napkins and a cafe serving tea, coffee and espresso. Cocktail JoJo, 2 Moon Street, Wanchai. Tel (852) 2511 8666

is an exquisite restaurant and dining experience. Principal Chef Jonay Armas serves up a sophisticated haute cuisine guided by tradition and displayed with precision and care. Originally from Spain, Chef Armas perfected his culinary skills at some of Spain’s finest restaurants. One year after The Principal opened its doors, Chef Armas was awarded his first  Michelin star in the 2013 edition of Michelin Guide Hong Kong & Macau. There are several chef’s tasting menus presented for diners to experience in the sophisticated and relaxed ambiance. The Principal, 9 Star Street, Wanchai. Tel (852) 2563 3444

is a bar and restaurant with a casual relaxed atmosphere perfect for meeting friends after work for cocktails. With an extensive signature drink menu including Brooklyn Julep, Espresso Libation, and Old Cuban, we love the cheeky industrial chic sensibility of this Star Street bar. Bar food includes American Southern and Tex Mex comfort food tapas classics. Ted’s Lookout, G/F, Moonful Court, 17A Moon Street, Wanchai. Tel (852) 2520 0076
